New Years Resolution Update

This post was meant to come at the end of March as an update to this post after 3 months, but I figure that splitting the year into 3 and writing an update at the end of April is almost as good. It’s been 4 months since I thought about the things that I wanted to achieve in the first part of the year, and the whole point of writing them down was so that I felt more accountable for them and to come back and look at how far I’d got with what I wrote later on in the year....

A new look!

Unfortunately it’s not a theme created from scratch by myself which is what I’m still eventually working towards, but the site was desperately needing a new lick of paint. It doesn’t really take a huge amount of effort to find a free WordPress theme and make a couple of tweaks to the CSS and template files to get it closer to how you want it to look, so I spent a bit of time last night and today setting this up. It’s still a work in progress as there are a couple of things I’m not entirely happy with, namely...

Subject matter and time to reflect

One of the things that I’ve realised that’s stopping me from ending up with quite as many photos that I’m proud to show off as I’d like is that I simply don’t take enough photos. I don’t mean in the sense of not having my camera around enough to take pictures, although that’s a separate issue, but that when I do I have it on me I still don’t take many pictures. The extreme example that really made me realise this happened last weekend. My girlfriend and I went out to the British Museum on Sunday and we came home after 4...

New Year’s Resolutions

I’m not a huge fan of the ‘New Year, New Me’ stuff, but I do like to use the New Year as a time to set myself goals for the year and plan out how I’m going to achieve them. In my opinion, a lot of people try to do too much with their resolutions at the start of the year, or set long term goals without a plan or way to measure progress towards them, which leads to a lot of ‘failed’ resolutions. I’m writing my goals out so that I can hold myself more accountable to them, and to make...
Finding old photos

Finding old photos

My family and I spent this Christmas at my parents’ house in Cornwall, which is something we’ve never done before, and it went really well despite being a bit of a hassle getting everything and everyone down there. I was hoping that with the unseasonably warm weather I’d be able to get some fantastic sunrise and sunset photos from the cliffs around the village, however the weather didn’t really cooperate and we only managed to get out of the house once in the 4 days we were down there. The sunset on that day wasn’t spectacular either, but I did get...
